Flights cancelled at Toronto Pearson Airport after LaGuardia crash

More than a dozen flights leaving and flying into Pearson have been cancelled due to the Air Canada plane crash. Sean Leathong reports.

Multiple flights were cancelled on March 23, 2026, at Toronto Pearson Airport due to a fatal plane crash at New York's LaGuardia Airport, which has halted travel to that hub, according to CTV News and INsauga. Over a dozen flights between Pearson and LaGuardia are impacted. Travelers should check with their airlines immediately.

The Air Canada flight (AC8646) originated from Montreal Trudeau International Airport (YUL). The flight, operated by Jazz Aviation, was destined for New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA) on Sunday, March 22, 2026, when it collided with a fire truck upon landing. The plane was carrying 72 passengers and four crew members.

LaGuardia Airport closed after plane collision kills 2 (Air Canada Flight)

New York’s LaGuardia Airport is closed after an Air Canada plane collided with a fire truck while landing Sunday night. The pilot and copilot were killed and two people in the truck were injured, a law enforcement official said.
