A 62-year-old man is poised to become the first person in Canada to be cured of HIV.
Only 10 patients worldwide are considered cured after following similar procedures. The case was led by Dr. Sharon Walmsley, director of the immunodeficiency clinic at the University Health Network.
Timothy Ray Brown, known as the "Berlin Patient," was the first person cured of HIV, with his cure announced in 2008. An American living in Berlin, Brown was cured in 2007-2008 through specialized stem cell transplants to treat leukemia, using donors with a rare genetic mutation (\(CCR5\)-\(\Delta 32\)) resistant to HIV. He remained HIV-free until his death in 2020.

Wild cats and domesticated cats can go outside and walk in the snow. While so-called feral cats are adept at surviving outdoors, the harsh winter months can make it very difficult for them to find valuable food, water and good shelter (properly sized and well insulated). During heavy snowfalls, cats need cleared paths to walk on.
It seems that cats are adapted for cold weather. However, when the temperature drops below freezing they are susceptible to hypothermia and frostbite. Cats would prefer to go inside if they feel too cold.
In the winter months, a so-called feral cat spends most of its time hunting and scavenging for food and water, and finding warm, dry shelter wherever it can.
It seems that it is possible for cats to survive very cold conditions for up to 3 days, but then they will eventually freeze to death if they are left in this environment. Cats are most at risk of hypothermia when exposed to dangerous cold weather.

- Seeking Warmer Places
It's not recommended to let your cat walk on snow or ice for more than an hour at a time. Check for frozen paws.
Hypothermia causes cats to lose consciousness and freeze to death. Cats can perish if their body temperature drops below 16°C (60°F) - it should typically be around 38°C (100°F) - according to experts.

Toronto is a densely populated city with many condos and cranes. All non-essential construction projects will be halted to help slow the spread of Coronavirus COVID-19. The list of exceptions under this category, however, is long and complicated. Allowed projects are "infrastructure projects such as new hospitals, roads and bridges" and "residential construction that is near completion." The rules also allow many of the condo projects and residential home renovations that have already started.

This five-alarm fire at a Toronto Community Housing (TCH) seniors’ apartment building in the city’s north end Thursday evening was a significant event.
Emergency crews were called to the 14-storey, 389-unit apartment building on Bathurst Street, south of Steeles Avenue West, just before 8:25 p.m.
Heavy flames really were on the east side of the building with smoke filling the building after crews arrived.

The Ontario government announced that Peel and Toronto are moving into the grey or lockdown zone for at least 28 days. The Ontario government will shutter most non-essential businesses in two of the province's Coronavirus COVID-19 hotspots.

The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is the most populous metropolitan area in Canada. It includes the City of Toronto and the regional municipalities of Durham, Halton, Peel, and York. In total, the region contains 25 urban, suburban, and rural municipalities. The southwestern periphery of the Greater Toronto Area begins in Burlington in Halton Region, and extends along Lake Ontario past downtown Toronto eastward to Clarington in Durham Region. Tahtsa Lake, B.C., set the record for the largest one-day snowfall measured in Canada on Feb. 11. About 145 centimetres fell in the remote area west of Prince George within a 24-hour period.
Canada has increasing daily new cases of Coronavirus Covid-19. The Ontario government announced Friday it is moving COVID-19 hotspots Toronto and Peel Region into lockdown, shuttering businesses such as salons and gyms and moving restaurants to takeout only and malls to curbside pickup.
Schools and child-care centres will remain open.
Premier Doug Ford made the announcement alongside chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams, health minister Christine Elliott and finance minister Rod Phillips at Queen’s Park.
The new restrictions come into effect at 12:01 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23. There was no end date provided, though Ford said they would see how the new measures work over the next four-weeks.
"Further action is required to avoid the worst-case scenario," Ford said. "I know this is difficult news today. This is not where we want to be. But, I have faith that Ontario will weather this storm together."
The new measures are set to arrive as Ontario reported 1,418 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, along with eight new deaths related to the virus.

There is some interesting useful construction going on in Toronto at New Westminster and Centre. Interesting construction and concrete forming is happening. More concrete floors will be built. In the future, another functioning big tall building will be standing here.
This is pretty interesting wildlife. A Toronto wildlife control company says they were called to a home under construction to remove 11 raccoons that had found their way into the house overnight. A Gates Wildlife Control worker has his camera rolling during their removal. Some have said that Toronto has the most raccoons, out of all cities in the world.
Raccoons can be found in many places in Toronto, especially in the spring and summer months. Some have called Toronto: the raccoon capital of Canada or the whole world. Some call them Canada's "trash pandas." They certainly survive and thrive in Toronto.
The raccoon (Procyon lotor) is a medium-sized mammal native to North America. The raccoon is the largest of the procyonid family, having a body length of 40 to 70 cm. It has a body weight of 5 to 26 kg. Its grayish coat mostly consists of dense underfur which successfully insulates it against cold weather. The raccoon's most distinctive features are its extremely dexterous front paws, its facial mask and its ringed tail.
Raccoons are noted for their intelligence, with studies showing that they are amazingly able to remember the solution to tasks for at least 3 years. They are usually nocturnal and omnivorous. They eat approximately 40% invertebrates, 33% plants, and 27% vertebrates.
Raccoons can be found natively throughout most of the USA and Canada. They can also be found in parts of Latin America, from Mexico extending down to the northernmost regions of South America. They are usually found in woodlands and grassy areas. Usually, they are not found in the high Rocky Mountains or in the Southwestern desert.
In May 2020, in Toronto restaurants have their dining areas closed. Tables and chairs cannot be used. Special signs are everywhere telling people to distance 2 meters from each other. There are also signs like, "Maximum 4 people inside store at a time." In some places, yellow caution tape is wrapped around tables. The tables outside are also wrapped up. Food delivery services are working, such as Uber Eats, which told employees to wear face masks starting May 18, 2020. Almost all restaurants closed their washrooms. Gas stations usually have washrooms that can be used. Gyms are also closed and people try to get exercise by walking, running and lifting weights in other rooms. Hopefully, restaurants will open, soon.
