Canada coronavirus death toll is 5,116

Canada now has more than 5,000 deaths from the Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic and nearly 70,000 reported cases. Most of these deaths are in Quebec, where the number reached 3,013, with a total of 38,469 cases.

Some schools have been opened again, despite concern from some about the risk of reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic.

75 Canadian cruise ship crew members finally returned home after spending months at sea. Global Affairs is still tracking about 200 Canadian crew members on about 70 ships worldwide.

With reduced ocean traffic during the pandemic, there is a benefit to some nature: COVID-19 could help endangered marine life. Researchers have gained an unprecedented opportunity to study killer whales. This could help the orcas themselves.
