Canada: Air quality across B.C. poses a health risk with more than 240 fires burning

CBC News shows that as more than 240 fires rage across the province, tens of thousands of people have been exposed to poor air quality, and it's particularly difficult for residents who have health issues.

The Entire 2021 wildfire season involves wildfires on multiple continents. Even at halfway through the calendar year, wildfire seasons were larger than in previous history, with increased extreme weather caused by climate change increasing the intensity and scale of fires.

The North American wildfire season was predicted to be severe, with record drought conditions and high spring temperatures in the West. There were 311 early wildfires in the first four months of the year in Arizona, compared to 127 in the same period in 2020. Haze from West Coast fires reached East Coast cities, and particulate pollution caused unhealthy air quality in New Hampshire in July, 2021.

Canada certainly had massive fires in 2021, especially with British Columbia wildfires and Lytton wildfire.
