Funny and Cute Pet Skunk Adventures

Skunks are pretty interesting animals in North and South America. They are mammals in the family Mephitidae. They are related to polecats and other members of the weasel family. However, skunks have as their closest Old World relatives the stink badgers. These often annoying animals are known for their ability to spray a liquid with a strong, unpleasant smell.

It is fascinating that there are 3 groups of skunks represented by 8 species in North America. However, only 2 species occur in Canada. The so-called striped skunk is the one familiar to most Canadians. Its wide range extends from central Mexico to Nunavut and the Northwest Territories and from the Maritimes to west-central British Columbia.
