The Coronavirus Covid-19 Pandemic has really severely disrupted the Canada immigration system since restrictions (because of virus) were first introduced in March 2020.
Canada has certainly restricted international travel and closed the Canada-USA border. Most of the restriction measures are likely to stay into the year 2021.

The Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic in Canada is part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The dangerous virus was confirmed to have reached Canada on January 27, 2020, after an individual who had returned to Toronto from Wuhan, Hubei, China, tested positive.

The federal Minister of Health invoked the Quarantine Act for the first time in its legislative history, legally requiring all travelers (excluding essential workers) returning to the country to self-isolate for 14 days.
Canada is now experiencing a second dangerous wave of the virus. Restrictions and lockdowns are created to decrease the spread of the Coronavirus Covid-19 Pandemic. Useful vaccinations also help to reduce the spread of the dangerous (sometimes fatal) virus.
